With great joy, we announce that Kasumi Hourai is coming to Portugal, a 2 day workshop on 24th and 25th of May 2025.
And a 3h workshop on Friday, 23rd of May 2025.
The model of this workshop will be Asami, from USA/Barcelona (Spain).
This is the first time Kasumi Hourai is in Portugal and is an amazing opportunity to learn with her japanese rope bondage.

WORKSHOP “Fusion of Modern and Classical Kinbaku”

The workshop will be held in English with translation from Japanese to English.
Duration of 3h on Friday, 23rd of May.
Workshop starts at 7pm (Lisbon time) and terminate at 10pm, without break.
Participantes should arrive at 6am30 to prepare themselves.

Kasumi will talk about the difference between classical Kinbaku (Kasumi style) and modern bondage, teach her TK, she will also talk about Japanese cultural regarding knots.
Furthermore, Kasumi will teach effective stretches to avoid TK and other upper body numbness, the 5 types of suspension ropes and how she use each of them differently. This workshop ends with hip harness concept between classical and modern Kinbaku. Students will be able to practice!

Minimum Requirements:
For Riggers:

– Good understanding of fundamental technique of Shibari / Kinbaku.
– Capable of tying a good TK of any style.
– Good knowledge of suspension lines management.
– Good understanding of security in Shibari.

For models:

– Comfortable with TK or gote.
– Experience in suspension.
– Good understanding of safety in Shibari, mainly understanding the differences between nerve compression and blood compression.
– Available to express vulnerability.
– Available to experiment and explore concepts of suffering and erotism.
– Models should use long dress or long underwear, as Kasumi style includes tying with rope. Sport wear will be ok for most of training exercises, but nudity will not be permitted.

What to bring:

– Jute ropes (min 10 ropes). Various sizes is also adviced.
– Security scissors or other cutting material.
– Comfortable clothes (nudity will not be allowed).
– Your own aftercare items if you wish.
– Your own food if you wish.

– There will be no refund of the investment if it is cancelled by the participants less than two weeks before the date of the workshop. If the pair cancels and finds a replacement, the new pair will have to go through the booking process as a new booking and submit all the general information about the pair.

– Workshop and performance will take place at The Knoty (W)Hole, in Porto, during the designated time.

Kasumi Hourai stands out as a prominent figure in the world of kinbaku, the Japanese art of rope tying.

Born in 1980, she has devoted more than two decades to mastering and evolving this intricate craft. From her early days as a self-taught artist to becoming an internationally recognised kinbakushi (rope master), Hourai’s journey reflects a deep commitment to fusing traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern tying techniques. Her unique approach, influenced by revered masters such as Akechi Denki and Akira Naka, has not only moulded her distinctive style, but has also contributed significantly to the global appreciation of Kinbaku as an art form.

About ASAMI HIME

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Asami is a half-Japanese model based in Barcelona.
Since 2016, Asami has performed as a Shibari model for many photoshoots, workshops, and private sessions. She originally began learning the art of Japanese rope bondage and rope bottoming in San Francisco and misses the community there dearly.
Asami is particularly drawn to the vulnerability and emotions induced by semenawa (責め縄) and, deep down, is a complete and utter masochist. Asami met Kasumi-san (蓬莱かすみ) in her rope studio in Nagoya this past winter and looks forward to the Portugal workshop in May as it will be their second performance and rope intensive together. みんなさん、よろしくお願いします！
